These are unprecedented times and with the government’s lockdown announcement from last night (Monday, 23 March 2020), we will all spend a lot more time in our homes than we are used to – and that can get boring and isolating!
The Femspectives team got together and brainstormed ideas for how we could provide something to do that battles both of these things. And we are very happy to present –
Femspectives At Home, a feminist film club you can join from your living room!
Each week, we will decide on a film to watch and meet online to discuss it afterwards in a “post-screening discussion” on Zoom.
You can choose between watching the films in our own time, or if you like, join us for a communal viewing via Twitter. We start the film at (roughly) the same time & can chat during & after! Just tweet at us to let us know you’re there and use #FemspectivesAtHome to make it easier to follow.
All of the films we choose are available on Netflix (and thus captioned), but if you don’t have access to a Netflix account, get in touch with us and we will figure something out: hello@femspectives.com
Every week, we post a public poll to our Facebook group – so you get to have your say in the films chosen for the film club! Only members can participate in the weekly film poll.
It is essential that you join our Facebook group Femspectives Community as this is the only place where we share the link to the Zoom discussion every Thursday.
All are welcome!
As always, our Safe Space Policy applies.
How to participate:
- Watch the film “with us” and let us know you’re there on Twitter – #FemspectivesAtHome.
- Or watch the film in your own time.
- Join us on Zoom for a chat – each week’s meeting link will be posted on our social media in advance.
